FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE AVATAR

Avatar Meher Baba’s day-long visit on August 2, 1956 was one of relaxation and intimacy. Meher Baba said, “This afternoon you all have a chance to laugh and feel relaxed. I come down to your level so that we can laugh and be free together, but don’t forget at the same time that I am the Highest of the High.”

SIT UNDER BABA’S TREE

“Baba’s Tree” is a great live oak under which Meher Baba sat during His visit in 1956.  “Baba went into the tent of leafy branches and sat down on the bed of dry leaves. He signaled that no one else should sit down. His eyes shone in the half-light, and He made a sign that He was happy.”

VISIT WHERE MEHER BABA GAVE DARSHAN

In 1956, Meher Baba met with His followers and gave darshan (His blessing) in a house later destroyed by fire in 1985. All that remains is the fireplace which now serves as a simple gathering place where many still feel Meher Baba’s presence.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch for themselves and enjoy the serene and scenic outdoors.  In 2010, the outdoor Topa Topa Kitchen will be constructed that will provide an additional picnic area for visitors.

JOIN A WORK PARTY

Work parties are a long-standing tradition at Meher Mount. The purchase of more sophisticated equipment has made some of the work at Meher Mount easier, but the camaraderie still remains when all join together.
